Phil Mercer studied print at Brunel college. He went on to work for commercial and packaging printers within the Bristol area for many years before starting a small company in his garage, printing leaflets and stationery. P&S print grew until he formed Philtone Litho in 1988 with his friend Tony Billing.
Philtone quickly outgrew its 1st premises and added an additional unit for the finishing department. In 1992 Philtone moved into its current position on Fishponds Trading Estate housing all print and finishing under one roof.
Phil retired in 2018 bringing Neil Mercer and Steve Spencer into company director roles. Neil served his apprenticeship with Philtone after leaving School and Steve started in a sales role in 2005. Tony Retired in 2020 and sadly Phil Mercer passed away in 2021.

We have achieved ISO standards for printing — ISO9001 for quality, ISO14001 for environmental standards and meet all requirements for the BPIF and Master Craftsman Guild.
